About
Since she picked up her first crayon at 4, Janice Goldy has had her own unique style of capturing and translating what MOVES her in the natural world onto an assortment of canvases using acrylics, inks, textile paint, permanent markers, Swarovski crystals and more. She has a childlike enthusiasm about creating art pieces that are worn rather than framed and hung in a room. “I get a kick out of knowing that my ART is out on the street - moving through someone’s universe. It’s an attention-getter for sure - and the wearer will find themselves drawing people in - creating these magic little moments of opportunity to connect!”
Jan started painting clothing back in the early 80s by making a “color swatch” on her sweatshirt at college to use as an experimental sampler for the permanent AD markers she painted with. The result was the sweatshirt became so popular that she printed a limited edition of the design and sold t-shirts to a shop in Santa Monica. One day while walking down Main Street she walked into MOTA/ATOM (Museum Of T-shirt Art/Artistic T-shirts On Main) and quickly became one of the most popular exhibiting t-shirt artists at the gallery. On weekends she would sit in the gallery window and paint Madonna, Bruce Springstein and David Bowie onto one of a kind works of art as crowds would stop and watch after a meal at Chinois. A well known film producer walked in one night and ordered 15 shirts to be custom made for his wardrobe. She has been painting on clothing ever since.
Her painted wearables are one of a kind and prices start at $250.00.
